About WIAL Singapore


WIAL Singapore is the official international affiliate of the World Institute for Action Learning (WIAL) led by the father of Action Learning , Dr Michael Marquardt.

"WIAL Singapore has quickly become one of the top WIAL affiliates in the world, growing from 0 CALCs in 2006 to over 30 CALCs in 2012. Based upon the quality of his training and coaching within Singapore and his worldwide leadership in action learning, WIAL-Singapore’s Managing Director, Ng Choon Seng, has been recognized as a Master Action Learning Coach (MALC), the first person in Asia to be receive this honor. As a MALC, Choon Seng has been instrumental in training and developing coaches throughout Asia, including countries like China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia."

WIAL promotes Action Learning around the globe both directly via worldwide and regional programs, and indirectly by authorizing/licensing affiliates in specific countries who promote action learning within their country.

 

To this end, any affiliate WIAL organization agrees to accept as members or participants any and all individuals or firms that agree to the principles and standards set by that WIAL affiliate and the parent WIAL organization.

 

WIAL has granted WIAL-Singapore the sole authority in Singapore to certify Action Learning coaches that meet WIAL worldwide standards.

 

WIAL also supports WIAL-Singapore in its action learning efforts including co-sponsoring in-country action learning forums, providing senior certified coaches for certification workshops in Singapore, and speaking at public and in-house action learning programs.

To establish Singapore as the international hub for Action Learning where individuals, groups, organisations and societies thrive on curiosity, inquisitiveness and reflection through the power of questions and action learning to to create innovative solutions for the betterment of individuals, groups, organizations and the society.

 

Mission

 

The World Institute for Action Learning - Singapore promotes the understanding and application of Action Learning in organizations through research, thought leadership, publications, conferences, workshops, coaching, certifications, and

  • Building a pool of certified Action Learning Coaches through the WIAL Action Learning Certification Process.
  • Promoting and creating awareness of Action Learning to foster the development of Action Learning proficiencies and usage.
  • Coaching individuals, groups and organizations undertaking action learning programs.
  • Enhancing the skills and knowledge of Action Learning Coaches through workshops, forums, Communities of Practices and other learning intervention.

Leadership

 

WIAL Singapore is led by Mr Ng Choon Seng, Managing Director WIAL Singapore.

 

Ng Choon Seng has more than 22 years of experience in human resources, training and facilitation in service and manufacturing industries as well as the government services and multi-national companies. He had experience leading the learning and development and human resource functions in the hospitality sector, Japanese manufacturing MNC and leading management development and organization development in Fortune 500 companies.

 

Choon Seng is one of the first in Singapore to be an International Association of Facilitators (IAF) Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) and is the only Singaporean to be certified as an IAF CPF Assessor. He has trained and given feedback to over 1000 facilitators in Singapore and the region.

 

He is the only Singaporean to be certified by the World Institute for Action Learning (WIAL) as a Certified Master Action Learning Coach. He is recognized as one of the most experienced Action Learning Coach in Asia. He has facilitated Action Learning programs for many organizations in Singapore and around the world including for Microsoft Corporation in Beijing, Seattle and New York, he has also led Action Learning teams from the Public Service Division (PSD) As Master Coach, he has facilitated the development of WIAL Affiliates in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia and led WIAL Action Learning Programs in these countries.

 

Choon Seng received his Masters of Arts in Human Resource Development (MAHRD) from the George Washington University (GWU), Washington, USA. He was also awarded the Leonard Nadler Leadership Award for his outstanding leadership, service, professional and academic successes.  Choon Seng is the co-author of the peer-reviewed article “Team Development via Action Learning” published by the Academy of Human Resources Development (AHRD).
